Ugly Sweater

A lot of hard work went into making this monstrosity. The bead work is intricate and gaudy, making the sweater weigh about 40 lbs. (exaggeration) The fuzzy yarn on the shoulders is an especially unique touch. At least it's soft. Pushpins sold separately.

Usually when we find hair in the donations, it's disturbing. Okay, every time. I understand wanting your wig to look natural but putting gray in it on purpose? Brown is natural!

Book 2!

I'm going to assume this is book 2 in the series. We own the first book. Poor Walter is adopted by a family and they realize he has a flatulence problem. They are ready to get rid of him when his farts become and asset. I won't spoil the rest of the book, but I actually think it is a funny and cute story. I'm still snickering at the blowout sale on the cover of THIS book, pictured below. I will be buying it to add to our collection of beloved children stories. I know you are jealous!

Coats!

I didn't take a picture today. I was too busy with everything going on. You've all seen coats before though so we probably don't need a picture. The boxes and bags were plentiful though. It was a pretty cool sight and I didn't think about taking the picture. Basically, we received a donation of over 400 coats, a plethora of blankets, and boxes of food today. It was the end results of an eagle scout project. Because of the thrift store's community outreach programs, we were the recipients of all those items. The store was lucky enough to have a service project going on today as well. The department I work for, decided to have a team building meeting at the store and we all worked together for a few hours. Those wonderful people had all the coats hung and put out in a couple of hours. I was amazed and so excited at the ability we had to provide very inexpensive coats so quickly.  They helped deliver the food to the homeless shelter and we started on pricing the blankets, also inexpensively. I really love this time of year and I love the spirit of giving that seems to infect everyone like a happy love virus! I'm not talking about STDs here. Anyway, it was a fun and busy day and I want to remember it for a long time so I decided it would be my donation of the day post even if I didn't have sub-par pictures with random crap in the background. Those are MY favorite donation of the day pictures too! Merry Christmas or Happy Whatever flavor of holiday your family celebrates this glorious winter season. I am re-energized by days like today. Stay warm!

Eskimo gloves

I tried these on. You can only walk with them. Good luck trying to do anything else like picking things up. They are cute and fuzzy though!



Holding it in

One of my volunteers donated this. She said her son gave it to her because she gave him a weird statue once. I told her that it looked like the statue needed to go to the bathroom. Badly. She probably got interrupted, by the call of nature, when she was getting dressed. This would explain why she isn't half her clothes. I'm sorry if this statue holds any holy significance for you.
