I was running out of fun donations and I decided it is going to be hat week! YAY!



No I didn't get donated, the hat did.

Not only does he live in a pineapple under the sea, he also makes a really cute hat. I don't think he is very happy about it though. He's got is angry eyes on.

Kitchen Fairy

Before this Thrift Store job, I worked in a gift shop. I always loved these sweet little fairies and I was delighted when we had one donated. They are retro and adorable.



Carnival Glass

Beautiful peach carnival glass serving dish. This type of glass was first made in the early 1900's. It was a cheaper version of Tiffany style glass. Carnival glass has the unique rainbow irridescent finish. It is gorgeous.

On the trail again.

Snail candle holder. It looks like it may work as an earring holder in a pinch. So who decided snails were adorable and would make a good decorating scheme? I think this one is pretty neat but snails are so slimy. Who decided to try and eat them in the first place as well. Blech.

Trendy bronze owl trivet. It's just so darn cute and I really like it.

Dapper hat

I have to try on almost every cool looking hat we get. Also I have to try the weird ones on too. I can't help it. This one had an etsy shop tag inside of it. It is old fashioned folded stiff green felt. It wasn't the right size and it wouldn't stay on my head, otherwise I would have bought it.

This is actually pretty neat looking. I was a little disappointed it didn't look nastier.

Disgusting

It's such a shock to your system when you are going through boxes of donations and you run across something like this. Stinky, nasty, dirty diapers. There were actually 2 different ones in this donation.

This dagger is purely decorative but it is kind of cool. I just didn't understand the cobra heads mixed with the scorpion stinger handle.



Ehh?

I just can't understand why people would donate something without at least giving it a superficial cleaning. This is embarrassing and seriously gross. It even has a little brush they could have used!

Also, I wasn't able to post a donation yesterday because I had an unfortunate accident with my phone and a bathtub. I'll stop there because the details are just too horrifying but it involved rice getting stuck inside the phone and rattling around like a maraca.

This kangaroo rat is cute but I don't know if I would want one to decorate my house. Maybe if I had a desert landscape it would look cute in the yard!

I asked my boss to model this donation. He was extremely helpful while protecting his identity. He didn't want to get stalkers because of his devastating good looks so he posed backwards. The pointy tassel part is my favorite.



The Thinker version 2.0

Is this an accurate depiction of real life or just fantasy? It looks like The Thinker got some action. Sometimes the smart guy gets the girl! Unless The Thinker isn't really smart and that's why he sits there so long, in befuddlement. I'm going with the smart guy gets the girl this round. After some more research, I've found out that the same artist that sculpted this, also sculpted "The Thinker". This is called "The Kiss". Auguste Rodin.

Creepy Doll

This right here.This is one of the reasons that people are creeped out by dolls. It's made out of ceramic or porcelain. It's also missing any helpful clues to it's gender and it's missing toes.

Vintage Lighter and ash tray set

I just thought this was really cool. When you push the door handle, the lighter pops up on the front. The top opens to hold cigarettes and the ash tray sets into the back. It's SO great! Too bad I don't smoke, this ashtray would almost make smoking cool but only if smoking didn't slowly kill you in various disgusting and eventually painful ways.
